Lori Austin Gallery at the Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa

Lori Austin Gallery at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is envisioned as a refined art presence within one of Sonoma's most iconic luxury properties. The idea is to bring together the Fairmont's hospitality and the curatorial eye of Lori Austin Gallery, giving guests a chance to experience contemporary work by Sonoma County and California artists in a setting that does it justice.
The goal is for it all to feel seamless and elevated — not art hung in a hotel, but a real gallery presence that adds something to the Fairmont experience. With the work shown well, clear signage, and a space that feels welcoming, guests have something to discover, and the property gains a closer tie to the creative culture of Northern California.
For the Fairmont, the gallery brings a cultural layer to the guest experience that feels memorable, regionally rooted, and very much in step with the property's character. For Lori Austin Gallery, it's a natural opportunity to present significant contemporary artists to the travelers, collectors, and design-minded guests the Fairmont draws.
Together, there's an opportunity here to create something meaningful — a quiet discovery for guests, where hospitality, design, and contemporary California art come together with intention and purpose.
THE RENDERING ABOVE shows the front elevation of the BIG THREE building as seen from Highway CA-12. New co-branded signage anchors each end of the window line, presenting the collaboration between Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Lori Austin Gallery with clarity and confidence.
The semi-opaque film on the four center windows will be removed, opening the gallery to the street and inviting passersby to glimpse the artwork within. Two portable display walls — approximately eight feet wide and eight feet high — are positioned to showcase the work from this vantage point, turning the storefront itself into a moment of discovery.
The window graphics are produced on 70/30 perforated vinyl, a thoughtful detail that allows the co-branded design to read crisply from the street while preserving an unobstructed view from inside. To guests within the gallery, the windows simply appear lightly tinted — the branding visible only to those approaching from the outside.

A welcoming space for viewing, gathering, and discovery.
Modern, minimalist furnishings soften the room and invite guests to sit, pause, and experience the artwork from multiple angles. The seating area creates a comfortable gallery lounge while keeping the artwork as the visual focus.

Flexible furniture for changing needs.
Gray upholstered benches, gray mid-century modern lounge chairs, and a low round wooden coffee table with white orchids create a polished, understated setting. When needed, these elements can be easily moved or stored so the space can shift from an intimate gallery lounge to an open event environment.

Strategic visibility and shared brand value
When the space is unoccupied, the mobile walls can be placed near the Highway CA-12 windows for strong exterior visibility and ongoing marketing exposure. The result is a flexible, elegant, and marketable cultural space that benefits both Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa and Lori Austin Gallery while celebrating the creative energy of Sonoma County and California artists.

70/30 perforated vinyl offers a refined balance of visibility, privacy, and presentation. From the exterior, the printed graphics create a polished branded presence that introduces Lori Austin Gallery at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa with clarity and sophistication. From the interior, the dark backing allows guests to continue seeing out to Highway CA-12 while softening the view and giving the windows a subtle tinted effect. This makes it an elegant solution for a gallery-hospitality setting: the artwork and signage remain highly visible from the street, while the interior retains natural light, openness, and a more finished sense of privacy.
